School for Dog Trainers/Working Dog Seminars
Michael Ellis is well known for his multi-discipline working dog seminars. During over ten years of traveling nearly every weekend, he has developed a user-friendly system of training that focuses on building engagement through the clear communication of marker training and maximizing the dog’s natural reward motivation through good play skills and making each reinforcer a “mini-event” that emphasizes interaction between dog and handler. One and two week courses for both professional dog trainers and sport dog handlers wishing to increase their knowledge and training skills are available through the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers located in Fairfield, CA. Seminars are available for working dog clubs on a limited basis. Contact Michael to book a seminar for your working dog club or visit the School website for more information on courses Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers.

Lindsey Sommer-When watching Lindsey work with one of her young dogs at the Michael Ellis School or on a Leerburg DVD, it is hard to imagine she was first introduced to the training system in February 2009 at a seminar in Nevada. Not long after attending her first seminar, she relocated to the Bay Area to serve as Michael’s apprentice. For those lucky enough to see her in action at either the school or on a Leerburg DVD, it is obvious Lindsey has mastered Michael’s method for raising and training working dogs. Many of the incredible young dogs she is seen working with are being raised by Lindsey for owners who are fortunate enough to benefit from Lindsey’s talent building motivation and engagement in young working prospects. In addition to skills specific for the dog sport of their choice, handlers and pups benefit from Lindsey’s commitment to living with working dogs as companions. Pups will learn to live in the house, load in and travel well in the crate/vehicle, come when called around other dogs on off-leash hiking and beach trips and more.
