Taz finished the requirements to be a Grand Champion last weekend in Portland, Or. She was handled by Jean Gauchat-Hargis. She qualified for the Eukanuba Invitational show in 2011 and this will also qualify her for 2012 but we aren’t going to Florida. We are pretty much done with conformation and are concentrating on agility for now. Our next trial is March 3, 4 & 5.

She won this large and competitive class with a time of 22.51 seconds on a course time of 42 seconds and 157 yards. That is 6.97 yards per second! It was a super fun course that was flowing and allowed different handling options. I almost chickened out on the long lead out push, but glad I didn’t. This run made my whole weekend and we were one missed Aframe contact away from a QQ.

By default, when you initially register, you’re an AUTHOR, which allows you to post to the blog, edit your own posts, and to manage comments for any posts you have written. You need to be upgraded to an EDITOR to be able to edit information on PAGES or create your own PAGES. I will try to upgrade you quickly, but drop me an email if you haven’t received your “welcome” email telling you you’ve been upgraded.

Once you’re registered as a user, you can login to the website by clicking “login” at the very bottom of each page. As an AUTHOR you’ll be able to post your brags and achievements on the blog page (NEW). If you’ve been upgraded to EDITOR, you can create and manage PAGES for your dog in addition to blog posts.

To Post to the Blog

Login with your username and password. You’ll be taken to the DASHBOARD. On the left you’ll see

• All Posts
• Add New
• Categories
• Post Tags

Choose ADD NEW. Add a title and content. You can write your post in VISUAL or HTML (upper right of content box). If you cut and paste from another application, all the formatting will be added along with the text – if you don’t want this, cut and paste in Html. Or, you can open the icon on the far right (Show/Hide Kitchen Sink) and then you can either PASTE AS PLAIN TEXT, or REMOVE FORMATTING.

Add an image

To add a photo, click the little photo icon right next to “upload/insert”. Choose the file or files from your computer (you can upload a whole bunch of videos at once if you want). After the file has uploaded, click on SHOW. A form opens where you can change the title, add a caption, choose where you want the image to be (left, center, right) and how large. If you select thumbnail, the reader can click on the image and it will open to its actual size. Click INSERT.

Add video:

Currently, the easiest way to add video is to download it to youtube.com first and then link to videos simply by typing in the URL of the video and adding a “v” to the http:// so it reads “httpv://samplevideo”. The videos will open on the page as in the example below of LdS Legends:

You can choose a CATEGORY and TAGS from the menu at the right if you wish.

Down below the text content window, you’ll see “All in One SEO Pack”. This is what the search engines index when the site is listed. You can add a Title, Description and Keywords.

When you’re done, click PUBLISH and it will automatically appear on the NEWS page! You can click “View Post” at the top to go look at it. If you have older news to post, you can change the publish date by clicking EDIT next to Publish immediately and then change the date.

Edit a Page or add a new Page

Once you’ve been upgraded to an Editor, you have the following options on the dashboard:

• POSTS
• MEDIA
• LINKS
• PAGES
• All Pages
• Add New

If you want to edit an existing page, e.g., you want to add titles to your dog on the litter page, go to
PAGES – All Pages and scroll thru until you find the page you’re looking for. Highlight the page title and you’ll see
Edit | Quick Edit | Trash | View
Click Edit. You can edit in Visual or HTML mode, whatever you’re most comfortable with. Type in you new titles. You can highlight them and change to colour to RED in the menubar above if you’d like. Click UPDATE when you’re done.

Create a New Page

If you want to add a new page for your dog, go to PAGES, ADD NEW. Give it a title (what will show up in the navigation menu).
Now you can add any text in the text box, again you can compose in Visual or HTML mode.
On the right side of the page, you’ll see “Page Attributes”. Under PARENT you’ll need to click which litter your dog is from so that it shows up correctly in the navigation menu.
Under TEMPLATE choose “Full Width”.

Allow Comments

You can choose to allow people to make comments or pingbacks if you wish. I have turned off comments on all the pages I’ve built because there is so much spam associated with them, but if you want, you can leave comments on.

The information you add in these fields are what search engines (google, etc.) index when the site is listed, and what appears in the title bar in your browser window. You can add a Title, Description and Keywords.
