Bacci got his French Ring Brevet on Saturday, scoring 99 out of 100 points!
This is our French Ring Brevet. The decoy is Jimmy Vanhove, a French decoy. All of the exercises, except for “heel on leash,” are done without? a leash or collar. The order of exercises are 1) heel on leash, 2) food refusal, 3) heel with muzzle, 4) absence of handler (for 1 minute), 5) defense of handler, and 6) face attack. Dogs must score a total of 80 out of 100 points to pass. In addition, they must acquire a minimum of 80% for the each of the bitework exercises. Bacci’s score was 98.9/100.
The only area where we messed up was in the defense of handler. Bacci was supposed to begin the exercise in the sit position. Instead, he went into the down. He was anticipating the face attack. I thought he might do this. We had been working on it during training, and I knew it was still an issue for us.
